Former National Amateur Champion Harvey Dykes overcame tough Belarussian Viktar Chvarkou at the Brighton Centre on Friday night to record his seventh professional victory.
Chvarkou came with a reputation for durability - and so it proved. He pushed Dykes over the distance, resorting to the dark arts at times, but was ultimately outworked and outboxed over the six round distance.
Despite suffering a cut to the bridge of the nose Dykes, as always, settled into the fight as the rounds progressed to claim a 59-55 victory. It was the Southpaw's seventh win in two years since turning over. He will be hoping for a Southern Area Title shot next.
